Hi! I’m Karen,
I am a sports and music photographer based in Sydney Australia.
I fell in love with photography at a young age - a friend of my parents had a dark room in their laundry. I was spellbound and mesmerised by the images magically appearing on a piece of paper, delicately washed in chemicals.
That love was reignited in high school, when I returned to the dark room studying Black and White Photography. Then I was encouraged to get a degree or a real job, and lost my way in a creative sense, as well as losing my first love.
But I am back. Like 2 old lovers, my camera and I have reunited. But this time it’s forever.
I think photography is all about emotion. I love to capture a moment in time, swathed in layer upon layer of emotions. I want my audience to hear the band, smell the fuel, feel their heart race with every image they view. To feel the joy and the heartbreak, the love and the loss, the highs and the lows.
For me, Sport and Music go hand in hand. Both exude masses of emotion, and have the fans laughing, crying, cheering, singing, dancing. If I can capture those feelings and bring them back to life over and over, then my purpose is found.
